Well, the axle has been removed from one leaf spring.
I'm also pretty sure that the shock mount is supposed to have a nut on it or something to keep the shock from just sliding off. After snapping both of these u-bolts I've decided to just cut the other side off. Hopefully I can do that tonight.
Saw a bad ass coe rat rod on the way in to work. It had a big coca cola cooler mounted behind the cab. No sr20 because I was driving but it made my day.
Saw a bunch of nails on the ground while I was working in the back yard. Cut the magnet off an old sub and duck taped it to a broom handle. I ended up pulling a couple pounds of justed nails up. Thanks previous owner! Seriously, who dumps nails in a pile by a a tree? Were they storing them there, like a squirrel?

Nails can be used to alter the colors of some plants. This was likely not, however, why in your case.
Does the shock mount have a hole through? Cotter pin + washer setups aren't that unusual. Washers shimmed until proper tension.

Looks like some of them may be hand formed. Worth some $ to a collector.

Maybe the squirrels were building something?

I guess I'll take another look at them.

Welcome to this old tree

Yeah, I know blue spruces love rusty nails. I believe this was at the base of a maple tree.
I'll take another look at the mount. If there was a cotter pin it was long gone.
